Coloured by the Northumbrian landscape and with a Twelfth Century abbots guest house, miners cottages and the village's ‘Angel of Temperance’ as your pillows of choice, you can rest assured that wherever and whatever your pick, the epitome of a countryside escape awaits.
Homely enough for slippers and socks, boasting beds that beg you to jump into them, and kissed with the softest of yarns. Our rooms are all about ‘those’ creature comforts with an added dash of moorland luxury thrown in for good measure.
Just as the name suggests our ‘cosies’ are as comforting as the warmth of our firesides. Dotted between the main house, the miners cottages and with a couple sitting snug a hop-skip-and-a-jump across the road into the eaves of The Angel, all of our homey spots are sweetened with Roberts radios, sleepy linen and a YUM slab of local fudge.
Up north there is no nicer compliment than being called ‘canny’ and these rooms deserve nothing less. One in the cottages, six sit across the way in The Angel and number one, named after our rebellious former resident Tom Forster, is just at the top of the stairs in the main house. Take your pick from views of the pretty-as- a-picture village square or sweeping stone rooftops with woodlands running beyond.
If you grab a handy Geordie dictionary, under champion you will find listed - First Class. Indeed, our knock-at- the-door four are pretty gorgeous bedrooms. So, if you have a bit of a thing for bubbles then Eggleston and Radcliffe and their roll top baths are your bag, or if firesides do just the trick, why not give Jeffries Rake and the wonderful Rookhope a whirl.
Our ‘top of the range’ two are the last in the row of our miners cottages. With their very own front doors, porches perfect for boots and log burners at the ready. Indulge in roll top baths, country chic lounging and in the case of Blackdene, a rather pretty spiralling staircase too.
Put together with family in mind, escape at the end of the day to our suite that's perfect for little ones and the not so little ones alike. With an exposed medieval fireplace (discovered by us), a proper ‘family’ bathroom and a twin room adjoining with fluffy water bottles at the end of the bed, it's the best spot for bringing along the motley crew.
